Transplant Coordinators have several roles. Some transplant coordinators are involved in the assessment of a patient being evaluated for organ transplantation. This is sometimes referred to as transplant workup. Other transplant coordinators support with the long-term management of patients following transplant. A living donor coordinator is a transplant coordinator who is involved in assessing a potential living kidney donor for their suitability to donate. In smaller centres, the transplant coordinator may perform several of these roles, but in larger centres, these roles may be separate. Whether you are a patient hoping to receive a transplant, a person who wishes to donate a kidney, or a patient who has been transplanted already, a transplant coordinator is there to support you.
